Last week I had the joy of photographing the sweetest family of four at Railroad Square Art District in Tallahassee, and honestly… my cheeks hurt from smiling by the end of it.
Railroad Square is one of my favorite spots for family sessions because it feels like a giant playground of color — bright murals, quirky sculptures, little hidden corners full of character. And this family showed up ready to match that energy.
From the very beginning, the kids were all in. No shy warm-up period, no “do we really have to take pictures?” faces — just pure excitement. They raced each other across the brick paths, pointed out their favorite murals, and kept coming up with their own pose ideas (some sillier than others… which I absolutely loved).
Their parents had the best attitude too. Instead of worrying about every hair being in place, they focused on having fun with their kids — twirling, playing, laughing, and going along with all the goofy prompts I threw at them. That relaxed energy always makes for the most genuine photos.
If you’re thinking about a family photo session in Tallahassee, Railroad Square is an amazing option — especially if you love bold color, artsy backdrops, and a relaxed, playful vibe. And if your kids are full of energy? Even better. We’ll turn all that motion and personality into images that actually feel like your family.
If you’d like to plan a session like this for your crew, I’d love to chat and help you create something colorful, joyful, and totally you.
